Circumcision for the Refugees of Rohingya
A call to help Rohingya refugees who are unable to perform the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim AS, specifically circumcision, has been made. Many Rohingya refugees lack access to proper medical facilities and therefore cannot undergo the procedure. The call is for individuals and organisations to assist in providing circumcision for these refugees as an act of charity and religious duty.
The Project in detail
Setting the Scene
The Rohingya refugee crisis has been ongoing for many years, and it has had a devastating impact on the lives of those affected. With limited access to basic necessities, medical care is often a luxury that many Rohingya refugees cannot afford. One essential medical procedure that many of these refugees cannot afford is circumcision, a procedure that is a significant aspect of the Islamic faith.
Circumcision is seen as a religious obligation for many Muslim males, and it is considered to be a Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim AS. The lack of access to a safe and affordable circumcision clinic has left many Rohingya refugees unable to fulfil this religious obligation. In this article, we will discuss the urgent need for a circumcision clinic for Rohingya refugees and how you can help us fundraise for this noble cause.
The Importance of Circumcision
Circumcision is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the foreskin covering the head of the penis. In the Islamic faith, circumcision is considered to be a religious obligation for Muslim males. It is also believed to have many health benefits, including a lower risk of urinary tract infections, penile cancer, and sexually transmitted infections.
Circumcision is often performed during infancy, but it can also be done later in life. For many Rohingya refugees, circumcision is an important aspect of their faith, and it is considered to be a rite of passage that marks their transition from childhood to adulthood.
The Need for a Circumcision Clinic for Rohingya Refugees
The Rohingya refugee crisis has left many individuals without access to essential medical care, including circumcision. Many Rohingya refugees cannot afford the cost of the procedure, and they often lack access to safe and hygienic facilities. As a result, many males are left unable to fulfil this religious obligation.
The lack of access to a circumcision clinic has also led to an increase in the number of unlicensed practitioners who perform the procedure under unsafe conditions, putting the lives of those undergoing the procedure at risk.
There are several Hadith that mention the importance of circumcision in Islam. For example, in Sahih Al-Bukhari, it is narrated that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,
“Five things are part of the fitrah (natural disposition): circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, trimming the moustache, cutting the nails, and plucking the armpit hair.” (Hadith 5891)
How You Can Help
We are fundraising to provide a circumcision clinic for Rohingya refugees. Our goal is to raise enough funds to cover the cost of the procedure and to provide a safe and hygienic facility for the procedure to be performed. With your support, we can help ensure that Rohingya refugees have access to this essential medical procedure. Each procedure costs £37 per patient of which we are hoping to provide a minimum of 100 Rohingya patients with this procedure, Insha’Allah.
